Deliverables are tangible or intangible objects (e.g. reports, services, products, events) produced as a result of the project. The deliverables listed below will be uploaded as soon as they are completed and available in their consolidated versions.
D1: Report on user needs analysis. The broadcasting company Bayerische Rundfunk carried out extensive research on (a) the numbers of blind and visually impaired people in several European countries,(b) on the provision of audio description (AD) for films and television in those countries (audio description in video products describes what is happening on the screen between stretches of spoken dialogue and thereby provides greater access to media services and therefore greater enjoyment for the blind community) and (c) on the laws and regulations concerning audio description in the EU. The research also addressed the blind public’s desires, demands, likes and dislikes on the subject of AD and on the role of the national blind organisations and others in the promotion of better audio description. The final Report is available here. You can quote this Report as follows: ADLAB (2012). Report on user needs assessment. Report no. 1, ADLAB (Audio Description: Lifelong Access to the Blind) project.
