Professor of audiovisual translation and translation theory, and head of research at the Department of Translators and Interpreters of Artesis University College, Antwerp. Her main research interest is in audiovisual translation (intralingual and interlingual subtitling, live subtitling and audio description). She has published widely on the subject. She was the convener of the Third International Media for All Conference, “Quality Made to Measure”, held in Antwerp in October 2009 and of the 3rd International Symposium on Live Subtitling with Respeaking, held in Antwerp in October 2011. At present, she is a member of the TransMedia Research Group, chair of the TransMedia Benelux Research Group, and a member of the advisory boards of The Translator, Perspectives: Studies in Translatology and the Peter Lang book series New Trends in Translation Studies.    picture of Gert Vercauteren Gert Vercauteren (Researcher)

MA, he is junior lecturer and research assistant at the Department of Translators and Interpreters of Artesis University College, Antwerp, where he teaches computer-assisted translation as well as literary and audiovisual translation in the Portuguese department. His field of research is AVT in general and audio description in particular. He is currently preparing a PhD on narratology and content selection in AD and was involved in the European Digital Television for All-project co-ordinated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In 2009 he gave workshops in AD in the Summer School in Screen Translation in Forli and at the 3rd Media for All Conference in Antwerp. He also works as a freelance translator and reviser of AVT-translations and audio descriptions.

   picture of Nina Reviers Nina Reviers (Researcher)

MA, she is research assistant at the Department of Translators and Interpreters of Artesis University College in Antwerp. Her field of research is audio description. She wrote an MA dissertation about audio-description for the theatre and is now conducting a 1,5 year research project on the possibilities for introducing corpus analysis as a method and tool for linguistic research into audio-description of films and series in Flanders and the Netherlands. She is also working part-time as a subtitler and audio-describer for various Flemish theatres. She is also member of the Transmedia Benelux research group.
