Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the Department of Translation Studies, School of English, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznan. Her research interests include audiovisual translation in general and audio description in particular. She is involved in two projects financed by the Polish Ministry of Science: AD-Verba aiming at the development of Polish audio description standards and Eye-tracking research on audio description – perception of sighted viewers as reflected in film descriptions for the blind. She teaches audio description as part of the Postgraduate Programme in Audiovisual Translation and is head of Postgraduate Studies in Specialised Translation. She is executive board member at the European Association for Studies in Screen Translation ESIST and a member of the audiovisual translation committee at the International Federation of Translators FIT.    picture of Agnieszka Chmiel Agnieszka Chmiel (Researcher)

Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the Department of Translation Studies, School of English, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznan. Her research interests include audiovisual translation, accessibility through translation and audio description. She participates in the AD-Verba project which aims at developing Polish audio description standards and in a project involving the application of eye-tracking to AD research. She is the Head of the Postgraduate Programme in Audiovisual Translation offered at AMU, where she teaches voiceover and audio description. She has supervised 5 MA theses on various aspects of audiovisual translation. Click here for further information.

   picture of Katarzyna Nowicka Katarzyna Nowicka (Researcher)

M.A., Ph.D. student at the Department of Translation Studies, School of English, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznan. Her scholarly interests focus on literary translation, especially on the translation of drama and mass literature, as well as on audiovisual translation, audio description in particular. She teaches practical translation, theory and strategies of translation and a postgraduate course on the theory of subtitling and film adaptations. She works as a translator.
